When people talk about pay per click advertising, they usually think about Google AdWords. Well, they are not the only PPC search engine around as most of us know. There is also Yahoo’s Search Marketing tool that is very useful for boosting traffic for Internet marketers. So why do you want to use Yahoo as well in your marketing efforts? Read on to find out.
First of all, although Google is the current king when it comes to search engines, Yahoo is still pretty strong in generating traffic. Google may get about 70% of traffic among search engines, but Yahoo still manages to get about 20% of search engines users. That’s a whopping amount of traffic to tap into. Think about it. If you are currently getting 70 visitors per day to your site, for instance, you could increase that number to approximately 90 visitors or more if you use Yahoo.
And if you happen to be marketing to an Asian audience, Yahoo is still tops when it comes to which search engine people in Asia use. Not to mention the most important reason why you want to use Yahoo – it has far less competition than on Google! This means you may actually get more traffic from it, especially if you are targeting high-traffic, high-competition keywords.
So how do you make money from Yahoo? Well you run your campaigns in pretty much the same way as you would on AdWords. The only difference is Yahoo is more lenient when it comes to your ads and bidding is less complicated. Positions of ads are based on pricing instead of Quality Score like it is on AdWords. I suggest running your campaigns on AdWords first, and if they are profitable, transfer your campaigns over to Yahoo. If your keywords can work in AdWords’ competitive environment, they can work anywhere.
