Okay, so you are tired of the 9-5 grind or maybe you cannot even find a 9-5 job, so you have decided to start your own business on the Internet. Sounds great…but starting on the Internet with no knowledge or skills can seem overwhelming, but it is truly doable. Matter of fact, most of the top-earning gurus on the Internet today did not have any technical experience when they first started.

Even though starting your own Internet business is a bit daunting; there are a multitude of free information sources and paid courses that can really jump start your business. The technical skills are not as important as they were in the early days of the Internet so relax and have fun as you learn.
Let us look at one method of making money online that does not require a lot of knowledge or skill. This method is called affiliate marketing.

-Affiliate Marketing
You may or may not have heard of affiliate marketing and if you have heard of it you may not understand it. It is a very simple business model requiring little skill, knowledge or time on your part. This type of marketing is used by most of the successful Internet marketers and can be extremely lucrative. It basically consists of you becoming an affiliate of another marketer or company, selling their products and getting a cut of the action.

Usually, you will receive 50%-75% of the sale. This means if a product sells for $50 you would get $25-$37.50 for the sale. The nice thing about the system is you do not have to produce the product, you do not have to deliver anything because most products are downloadable and you do not have to handle any customer service.

All you are required to do is direct traffic to the sales page for the product and the system will take care of the sale, collecting the money and paying you. The way it works is you are given a personalized link, usually called a hop link, which tracks the customer’s purchase with what is called a cookie and the system gives you the credit for the sale. You are usually paid either instantly, once per month or every two weeks.

One of the largest affiliate marketing companies is ClickBank. Another one is Pay dot com and there are many others. I would suggest starting with ClickBank to learn the system and master the method of affiliate marketing. Their system is very easy to learn and they pay on time. They have thousands of products and list them in their market place by category, so it is very easy to find something you can sale.

Becoming an affiliate with ClickBank is free and does not take much time to set up your account. No matter which company you sign up with as an affiliate, the first thing to do is look over their site for tutorials or training videos. Since the affiliate company is interested in you making as many sales as possible, they normally have in-depth and easy to follow training. Remember, the more you make, the more they make, so use all of their information and tools to help you to get ahead. That is why they are there.

Next, look through their catalog of products to see what interests you. If you have experience in any of their categories, it might be a good place to start. If you like cooking, then think about starting with cooking ebooks. If you like golf, then start with golf. If you have an interest, experience or knowledge in an area, then it will be easier for you to promote and sell the product.

There are whole programs written that teach affiliate marketing step-by-step. Knowledge and training are helpful in becoming successful running an online business and affiliate marketing is a good place to start to learn.
