PPC advertising is a very popular method to generate targeted traffic to a website fast and make money online. This form of advertising is offered by many search engines. The most popular PPC ad provider on the planet is Google. Their system is very popular and is known as Google AdWords.
How does PPC work?
The easiest way to see how PPC works would be to do a search in Google. If you take a look at the search results at the top and right hand side in Google under the “sponsored links”, you will see PPC ads. Every time someone clicks on these the ads, the advertiser is charged per click. Hence, the name pay-per-click. The advertiser is charged nothing to be listed in Google. If we use Google AdWords as an example, you sign up to this system for a fee of around £5. You select your keywords (search terms you want your ads to show up for), write your adverts, amend your campaign settings according to your preferences.
Google then reviews your ads to make sure they meet their standards. Your ads then start to show in as little as 1 hour, sometimes even straight away.
How can you use PPC to make you money online?
Your profit depends on your costs versus the revenue you generate. Your only costs are those you pay-per-click. So, if you pay 50 cents per click on your ad and you get 20 visits. Your total PPC advertising costs would be $10. If you sell a product from your website worth $15. You make $5.
Why use PPC?
It is a much faster way of getting traffic to your site than many other traffic generation methods. The traffic is also very targeted since you only bid on keywords targeted to the product or service you are offering for sale on your website.
